Dia Chelsea

Dia presents temporary exhibitions, performances, lectures, and readings at Dia Chelsea, located at 537 West 22nd Street in New York City. Dia Chelsea offers free admission. Since re-opening in 2021, Dia Chelsea has presented commissions by Lucy Raven, Camille Norment,  and Delcy Morelos, as well as a retrospective of Chryssa’s works. An exhibition of work by Steve McQueen is currently on view.


In front of Dia Chelsea, on West 22nd Street between and including 10th and 11th Avenues, is Joseph Beuys’s “7000 Eichen (7000 Oaks)." Consisting of thirty-eight columnar basalt stones, each paired with various species of trees, the public artwork began in 1982 at Documenta 7, in Kassel, Germany, and now continues in New York City.
